You really only need 18-20 hp for what you are discribing. The HP is really dictated by the 60" finish mower as you can size the tiller to the tractor. You need about 15 HP PTO for a 60" finish mower. I am not sure what grey market tractor this would be? 17D or so. In the Deere you are looking at a 750, 755, 770, 790, 4100, 4110, 4120 and the new tractors ....

Daniel, I own a Yanmar 1500D which has approximately 18hp with 15hp to the PTO. It runs my 60" finish mower no problems. I've got a 48" tiller which it handles well also. Oh yeah, and the 4WD helps if you're going to use a turnover plow (weight the front-end good). Lastly, I've got a loader on the way!

This tractor is mid to late 70's model and it's been a great tractor for me. You might like a newer model better however as they've made some improvements: powershift transmission vs. gear, a smoother 3 cyl. engine, etc. But for the price, a 4WD and the 15HP at the PTO recommended previously, you can't beat a 1500D. ....

On the grey market Yanmars, the 1st two digits of the model number usually represent the PTO horsepower.
Example: YM1700 = ~17 PTO horsepower.
On US-spec models, they represent the engine HP.
Example: YM240 = ~24 engine horsepower.
On geared tractors, subtract 14% from engine HP to obtain approximate PTO horsepower.
Example: subtract 14% from the YM240's 24 engine horsepower and you get ~20.6 PTO horsepower.
Don't know what the % is for hydrostat tractors though, except that it almost certainly has to be something more than 14%.

That's good to know, for the later models anyway. What's still unknown though, is whether the 70s-vintage Yanmar hydros and old 700-800 series JDs are as efficient as your 4115.

Yanmar does not sell or support the sale of grey tractors and is trying to shut it down with law suits. See their site. Kubota has about shut down and I am not sure about parts for the greys that were sold. ....
